Zoning Checklist

Before any building permits can be issued on certain projects, an approved Zoning Application is required from the Zoning Officer. The following information is also required as part of the Zoning Application process should your project need zoning approval. Also, please be sure to review the Tax Assessment Chart to identify the tax implications of your project.

New Home Construction, Additions, Covered Deck, Accessory Structure (Shed, Detached Garage; Hot Tub, Gazebos), Above & In-Ground Swimming Pools

A survey to scale showing existing conditions with proposed conditions drawn to scale on the survey and showing dimensions and distance from construction to property lines.

Complete the applicable portions of the Coverage Worksheet on Page 2 of the Zoning Application.

Zoning Permit Fee: $50

Other department approval may be required


Finished Basement With New Walls or Rooms

Floor Plan of home and finished basement showing rooms and entry

Zoning Permit Fee: $50


Patios, Sidewalks & Driveway Replacement or Expansion (No Permit Needed for Driveway Coating & Sealing)

Complete the Lot Coverage (Impervious) portion of the Coverage Worksheet on Page 2 of the Zoning Application.

Uncovered Deck

Copy of survey to scale showing existing conditions with proposed deck drawn to scale on the survey showing dimensions and distances from the deck to the property lines.

Complete the Lot Coverage (Impervious) portion of the Coverage Worksheet on Page 2 of the Zoning Application.

Zoning Permit Fee: $50


Fence

Copy of survey to scale with proposed fence drawn on the survey indicating the height of the fence.

Retaining Walls Over 4 Feet

Copy of survey to scale showing location of wall(s)

Elevation plan of wall showing height-cross section

Any wall over 4 feet requires signed and sealed drawing by an engineer

Zoning Permit Fee: $50


Free Standing Sign

Rendering to scale of proposed sign showing all dimensions and method of illumination.

2 copies of the survey or site plan showing the location of sign and proposed setbacks.

Zoning Permit Fee: Non-Residential $50


Wall-Mounted Sign (Not in a Historic District)

Rendering to scale of proposed sign showing all dimensions and method of illumination.

Elevation drawing of wall of building where sign is to be placed showing all dimensions (height and width of space in question).

Zoning Permit Fee: Non-Residential $50


Signs in a Historic District
