Boonton Main Street is a stand-alone 501c3 nonprofit and grassroots effort, fostering partnerships to restore, preserve and promote Boonton’s historic downtown. With only a portion of its budget coming from the Town, Boonton Main Street Inc. follows a four-point approach to downtown management using organization, promotion, design, and economic revitalization as defined by the National Main Street Center and Main Street New Jersey.
Sustained by contributions and volunteer support, Boonton Main Street Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness and foot traffic to benefit Boonton’s historic downtown shopping district. We accomplish our mission through events, advertising/promotions, and resource sharing.
BMS Partners with the Town of Boonton
In October of 2021, Boonton was awarded a 5-year designation, including an annual $125,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP). The Town of Boonton partnered with BMS to execute this annual $150,000 improvement program, $125,000 annual grant from NJDCA coupled with the grant's municipal match requirement of an annual $25,000. The NJ Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) provides grants and its State NPP Team offers a robust array of technical assistance and training in support of these bottom-up efforts that create visible and tangible change, leverage other public and private resources, and address real needs and aspirations of each community.
