Boonton SRT 5K - Sunday April 2, 2017

posted Mar 7, 2017, 7:06 AM by Anthony Pisano   [ updated Mar 7, 2017, 7:06 AM ]
The Boonton Special Response Team (SRT) is a group of our local police department who voluntarily choose to train in quick response, specialized tactics for high risk operations that fall outside the capabilities of regular uniformed police. Examples of these incidents include the recent Orlando nightclub shooting and the horrific events that unfolded in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Where time is of the essence, the Boonton SRT's work allows the Boonton PD to respond well above that capacity of a regular police department and in quick time should an incident like these befall our town. Because their voluntary efforts do not fall within the municipal budget, the specialized equipment, expert training and life-saving gear they need comes from their own pockets or from your generous donations.

On Sunday, April 2nd, a 5K Run and a Kids Fun Run are being held to raise funds for the purchase of equipment and training to keep our officers safe as they rush into life threatening situations on our behalf. Will you consider participating in and/or donating to this worthy cause?
