Boonton’s 150th Birthday Celebration Weekend is this September! Below is a list of the events taking place the weekend of September 22nd-24th. 


FRIDAY - September 22nd, 2017

Walk-ins welcome and payment can be made at the door
Boonton 150th Birthday Reception at Historic Boonton Station 1904 (3pm-10pm)
Come celebrate our Town's 150th Birthday at the historic Boonton Station 1904 located at 202 Myrtle Avenue in Boonton. 

 
  • Doors open at 3pm and a buffet will be served throughout the evening (10pm). 
  • Buffet items include: 
o Mini tuna tartare tacos
o Fried calamari
o Penne Absolut
o Gnocchi Bolognese
o Crudite platter
o Filet mignon on garlic toast
o Antipasti/cheese and meat platter
o Lemon chicken
o Sliders
o Mini crab cakes
o Shrimp cocktail
  • Entertainment begins at 6pm with the band Frisky Business playing your favorite classic rock hits.
  • $45 per ticket includes admission to Boonton Station, buffet and entertainment. Cash bar.

  • Local historic organizations will be on hand to showcase our town's history. 


Russ Conn 150th Art Exhibit

Russ Conn 150th Art Exhibit (more at www.boonton.org/art) Thanks to a generous donation by our local community hospital, Saint Clare's Health (www.saintclares.com), a selection of local artist Russel Conn's watercolors, featuring Main St. and other Boonton venues, which haven't been seen in Boonton for 35 years, are being made available to the public for viewing. Lovingly and professionally  reproduced by John Castronovo's Boonton Main Street business, Techphoto (www.technicalphoto.com), the art will be on display from August 1st and ending up at the Friday Sept. 22nd reception to honor Boonton's 150th birthday. Bob Bogue 150th Art Exhibit
More thanks are in order to A. Lloyd Charlton who has loaned his collection of Bob Bogue paintings for display during the 150th celebration year. Featured in Lloyd's Book, The Artistry of Bob Bogue, more than 15 paintings were done over the last several years as Lloyd asked his old friend Bob (now in his 80s) to paint works of personal significance to Lloyd. Lloyd’s family history in Boonton dates back several generations. Keep an eye out for the Bogue collection during the September 150th Celebration weekend. 






10:00AM - Main Street Tour lead by local historian, 90 yr. old Lloyd Charlton.  The tour starts at the top of Main Street across from River Rock Yoga (1175 Main Street)

12:30PM – Time capsule interment at Mayor’s Park (across from the field entrance of Boonton High School)
1:30PM - Showing of the historic architecture tour film at the Darress Theatre


SUNDAY - September 24th, 2017 

In case of Rain, all festivities will be held at Boonton High School

Annual Boonton Day: 150th Edition along historic Main Street and beyond INCLUDING:

  • Historic Morris Canal Walking Tour leaving the post office patio at 10AM

  • 12:30pm  “Join the Mayor at the corner of Boonton Avenue and Main Street along with Harmony Drum Corps for an old fashioned ribbon cutting to officially launch Boonton Day 2017 – The 150th Anniversary Edition”

  • The Voice semi-finalist Brendan Fletcher  Corner of Cornelia Street and Main

  • Children's music starring Big Jeff  Top of Main Street in front of Culture Cabin (1017 Main Street)

  • Historic Scavenger Hunt happening along Main Street
  • 2:00pm -  Movie at the Darress Theatre - 1902 Photos of Boonton
  • The Boonton Canal Tour lead by the Canal Society
  • Scavenger hunt on Main Street 

SATURDAY - November 4th, 2017


The Boonton Elks Club will be holding a 150th celebration on November 4th, 2017. Cocktail 
hour begins at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7pm; dancing with a live band and vocalist until 11 p.m. A cash bar will be available and tickets will go on sale starting September 1st, 2017 at the lodge on Friday evenings between 7 p.m. - 8 p.m., as well as through the BoontonElks.org website.
